Molly's Story

My name is Molly and I am 26, which is quite old for a horse. My life hasn't been very easy  or that happy. For I have had a few accidents along the way which have left me with my teeth out of shape and with only half a tongue! But I appreciated my life for what it was, until I went to a place that I had never heard of before …. The Sanctuary.

I had no idea what happened there and so I was really scared when I went there. But soon I began to realise that the people were here to help me. They showed me love. What on earth is a kiss and a hug? I had never experienced that before. It was as if I was in a different world and they did not expect anything of me.

One day at the sanctuary I got a bad leg that hurt so much I was pretty scared, for I was only able to walk on three legs. It hurt so much that they took me to the vet. I heard the vet say “she's old, so is it worth it ?” What were they going to do? Did they really care for me? Was there any hope for me? But the vet put padding on my sore leg and it drew out what was wrong with it.

As they took me back to the horse box, I wondered “what next? Will it be something else bad?” But when we stopped I was taken out and there were the kind people I had got to know even better my new best friend Leah, with whom I loved to run with through the long grass. I new that in this place I was happier than I had ever been before.

The people at the sanctuary said to me, “everything is going to be OK old girl, for we are here for you” And so it proved to be, for every day they walked me and taught me to walk again on all four legs. They brought me through to a full recovery and now I am able to run in my field with my friend Leah. Now I am so happy.

When I think how my life is ending with a permanent home at the sanctuary, I thank Albert the horse who began it all. You see, if it wasn't for him some of us horses

Would not be so lucky to be still here in this world, loved and cared for. But thanks to Albert and the sanctuary, I have been given a fresh chance to live on and enjoy my life to the full.
